Creating Connections

Automatically Routed Connections

The Auto Connection (AUTOCON) tool automatically routes a connection between two points. The points may be determined by selecting symbol connection points, specifying a location and direction on-screen, or picking an existing connector. If you pick a connector, the point will snap to the nearest end point.

Manually Routed Connections

The MANCON tool creates a connection with the route manually determined on-screen. Start and end points may be selected by symbol or arbitrary point.

Pick to Insert a Connection

The PICKVIS tool can be used to create an automatically routed connection by selecting an existing connection on-screen. The connection may be a legend entry. The layer, style and attribute values of the selected connector are used for the new connector, and the connection layer and style are set to those values so that all subsequent new connectors are likewise created with those settings.

Converting Lines and Polylines to Connections

The IQ tool converts orthogonal (horizontal or vertical) chains-of-lines or polylines to connections per the current connection layer and style settings.

Connections exploded using AutoCAD's EXPLODE command become native polylines that can be manually edited, then turned back into connections using the IQ tool.

This is a convenient way to exchange drawings back and forth with AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT users who don't have FlowTools.
